AIMCAL, SPE honor six technical papers at AIMCAL R2R Conference USA / SPE FlexPackCon 2017The Assn. of International Metallizers, Coaters & Laminators (AIMCAL) and the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) honored six presentations for technical excellence at the groups’ joint R2R Conference USA / FlexPackCon at the Saddlebrook Resort & Spa in Wesley Chapel, FL, last Wednesday.

Winning the 2017 AIMCAL John Matteucci Award for Technical Excellence in Web Coating is “Predicting and Preventing Issues in R2R Manufacturing Using Data Analysis Techniques” by Aravind Seshadri of Roll-2-Roll Technologies LLC. An honorable mention in Web Coating was presented to “Photonic Curing for Printed Electronics” by Dr. Aoife Celoria of NovaCentrix.

Taking the 2017 AIMCAL John Matteucci Award for Technical Excellence in Vacuum Web Coating is “New Results About Multi-Functional Plasma Polymer Thin Films Fabricated by Large Area R2R Sputtering Process” by Dr. Sang-Jin Lee of the Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology. An honorable mention in Vacuum Web Coating recognized “In-Vacuum Flexo Topcoating on Metallized Film: Commercial” by Ameer Hamza of Celplast Metallized Products, Ltd.

Honored with 2017 SPE FlexPackCon Best Paper Awards are “Unleash E-Commerce with Packaging that Clicks” by Matt Dingee of OnPoint2020; and “BOPEF – A new bio-based high-barrier substrate film for the packaging industry” by Jesper Van Berkel of Synvina.
