From Reifenhà¤user - New generation of PET thermoforming sheet lines

Followingthe success of the 2013-release high-performance extrusion lines for PETthermoforming sheets with the patented mechatronic polishing stacks of the Mirex-MT-Vdesign series, the next generation of this line type was presented this year.

As in thepast, the heart of these lines is the tried-and-tested synchronous “REItruder”twin-screw extruders, which are now in their third generation. In combinationwith dry-running high-performance vacuum pumps that work with an operatingpressure of 5 mbar, and the degassing units on the REItruder that havecontinuously been optimized through the years, the systems meet the FDArequirements for films that are made of 100% recycled PET and are in directcontact with food. All required declarations confirming the line technology'scompliance with EFSA requirements are provided; the user is responsible forapplying for the appropriate EFSA approval.

Dependingon the customer's requirements, various different coextrusion feedblocks areavailable from Reifenhäuser EDS, the youngest member of the Reifenhäuser Group.The customers have frequently expressed their desire for simple (quasi “plugand play”) production. To meet this need, feedblocks are now available both forfixed layer geometries and for the tried-and-tested and highly flexibleREIcofeed 2.1 systems that can be configured during operation. Additionally,completely modernized dies are available in the wide product portfolio ofReifenhäuser EDS. For example, the producer can choose between internaldeckling for maximum flexibility in the film width, or a lip gap that can beconfigured during operation for fast thickness changes, as well as betweenmanual or automatic operation with thermal expansion bolts.

After 5years of successful worldwide use, the Mirex-MT-V high-performance polishingstack has also been fundamentally modernized. Depending on the system capacity,it has 3 or 4 polishing rolls. Additionally, an axis crossing for the firstroll is available optionally, for the production of thin films with largewidths.

Theentire line has been prepared for the implementation of Industry 4.0 functionsthat are being developed group-wide by Reifenhäuser Digital. Thanks to themodular concept, the customers can decide individually which functionalitiesbenefit their business activities and which are not needed (for the timebeing). The tailor-made solutions for individual needs are part of theportfolio of Reifenhäuser CSC, from “as simple as possible” to convenient fullyautomated solutions.
